Terms of use
Last updated 11/10/2026
Draft. This page is a working draft awaiting review. It is not yet in force, and nobody has been invited to use the service.
1. Who we are
Judge Yourself is a product of Lextrapolate Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15711888). Registered office: 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. In these terms “we” means Lextrapolate Limited and “you” means the person using Judge Yourself.
2. What the service is
Judge Yourself is a practice tool made by Lextrapolate Limited. Its role plays, situational questions and interviews are simulations based on published JAC guidance and on reports of past selection exercises. They do not predict what any future exercise will contain, and the grades are a practice indication, not a forecast of any decision. How you prepare and how you perform are your own responsibility. Judge Yourself is independent of the Judicial Appointments Commission and the judiciary, and is not endorsed by or associated with either.
Judge Yourself is available by invitation only. There is no charge during the pilot. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.
3. No guarantee of outcome, and not advice
Grades, comments and reports are a practice indication produced by software. They are not an assessment by the JAC, by a selection panel or by any judge, and they do not predict the result of any application. We do not promise that using Judge Yourself will improve your prospects. Decisions about how to prepare, what to write in your application and how to perform are yours.
Feedback, model rulings and any statement of law in a scenario are produced for practice. They may be wrong or out of date, and they are not legal or career advice. Check anything you rely on against its source.
4. The JAC’s guidance on artificial intelligence
The JAC's guidance on artificial intelligence applies to you. Use Judge Yourself to practise and to get feedback on writing that is your own. It will not write or rewrite your examples. Never upload JAC selection material (pre-reading, scenarios, test or selection-day papers), and never use Judge Yourself during a test, selection day or interview.
You agree to follow that guidance while using Judge Yourself. In particular you will not upload, paste or describe any JAC selection material (including pre-reading, role-play or scenario papers, and qualifying-test or selection-day material), and you will not use the service during any test, selection day or interview. We may refuse or remove material that appears to be selection material, and we may close an account that breaches this clause.
5. What you upload
Upload only your own application documents and writing. Remove or anonymise the details of clients, parties and children before you upload, and do not include health, diversity-monitoring or character-declaration sections; we remove the sections we can detect, but you are responsible for what you upload. You keep all rights in your material and give us permission to process it to provide the service to you and as the privacy notice explains. We never use it to train any third party’s models.
6. Acceptable use
Do not share your account, attempt to access anyone else’s data, interfere with the service, or use it to produce text you then present as your own unaided work in an application.
7. Our material
The scenarios, papers, feedback and other content we provide belong to us or our licensors. They are for your own preparation. Do not copy, share or publish them, and do not present them as JAC material: they are not.
8. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from the outcome of any application for judicial office, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to £100.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from your account page; your data is then deleted as the privacy notice explains. We may end your access on notice, or immediately for a breach of clause 4 or 6.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will tell you by email, and show the new terms when you next sign in, at least fourteen days before a change takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you do not accept a change you may close your account.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
